What is a tier 3 sex offender?

Tier 3 sex offenders are considered the most dangerous and pose the highest risk of reoffending. They usually have a history of violent and/or multiple sexual offenses. In most states, Tier 3 offenders are required to register with law enforcement for life and their information is made public on sex offender registries. They may also be subject to additional monitoring and restrictions, such as residency restrictions and community notification. Tier 3 offenders are often closely monitored by probation or parole officers and may be required to undergo ongoing treatment and supervision.
